“The child must know that he is a miracle, that since the beginning of the world there hasn't been, and until the end of the world there will not be, another child like him.” ~ Pablo Casals
The ECY seeks to build upon the creativity and the joy of discovery in every child in order to allow the positive development of each child's potential in the formative years. The philosophy is to provide a nurturing, secure and positive educational environment so that each child will be cherished and encouraged as we celebrate every step of growth and achievement in his or her own unique way.
Sekolah Bina Nusantara Serpong has an Early Childhood Years Programme that offers ECY 1 (Nursery), ECY 2 (Kindergarten) and ECY 3 (Preparatory). It is a heterogeneous student body that learns, plays and discovers together in harmony, tolerance and understanding.
Pupils are actively involved in a dynamic curriculum that is designed to cater to “turning on” the eight multiple-intelligences or eight kinds of “smart” found within each child; BodySmart, WordSmart, PeopleSmart, SelfSmart, ImageSmart, SoundSmart, NatureSmart, LogicSmart.
The curriculum encompasses inquiry, proactive discussions and creativity. Learning activities encourage autonomy, risk-taking, responsibility, conflict resolution and provide the pupil with a sense of achievement. Learning is based upon exploration, observation, imitation, self-discovery, manipulation and direct experience with interesting resources.
Play is encouraged in both indoor and outdoor settings so that the pupil is able to use the environment to solve problems in an enjoyable way. Laughter and fun punctuate our classrooms at the right times.
The classrooms are comfortable, clean, stimulating and motivating work environments.
The ECY teachers work in teams. They are qualified, positive, enthusiastic, creative, resourceful and well-trained in classroom management, child development and latest teaching pedagogy.
The teachers use a variety of strategies including individual, small and whole group activities, a balance between structured and non-structured experiences as well as provisions for quiet time, to cater to all learning styles and development levels. In addition, they are committed to reinforce the use of English Language in and out of the classroom while respecting the pupil's mother tongue and encouraging the practice of Mandarin.
