The faculty and staff of the Middle and High School BiNus School Serpong are thrilled to be part of the integral community of the youth of our school that helps nurture their skills and shape their thinking, but more importantly affirm their dreams, aspirations, creativity, and guide them to seek positive channels to develop their vast potential.
The Middle School Curriculum provides students with a stimulating and challenging opportunity to study a broad range of subject-based topics in both national and international context. Assessment is both formative and summative, and knowledge and understanding may be demonstrated in a variety of ways, which allows each student the opportunity to experience success. English is the dominant language of instruction in the Middle School, yet there is strong emphasis on Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin as well.
It is in the Middle School that the learning and knowledge application skills introduced in the Elementary School are reinforced, enhanced and consolidated. Students are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their own academic progress, and develop an appropriate work ethic and study program in preparation for senior high school studies.
In keeping with the philosophy of the BiNus Schools, the focus remains upon the joy of discovery, a love of learning, the encouragement of inquiry and creativity. Students' respective multiple-intelligence styles are accessed in the continual construction of knowledge based upon already acquired knowledge and real life experiences. Teaching methodology is student-centered and interactive.
As part of our key features, both the Middle School and High School continued to foster a caring community through Character Education. The Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship are further internalized as students initiate and lead Class Meetings, Collaborate on Academic Tasks, involve in Buddies Program with lower grades, and design and execute Service Learning that allows them to achieve academic goals through community service.
Co-curricular highlights include:
- Excellent sporting facilities, performing arts studios to promote all-round development of students
- Language arts recital and dramatization performances
- Debates and Public-speaking events
- Student-initiated clubs and projects (teacher moderated) to encourage creative exploration, responsibility and independence
